Jyros Is Growing : The Next Big Adventure!

A little over two years after its launch, Jyros is entering a new phase: European expansion.

Last September, we launched EURO-Jyros, a two-year international program supported by the European Union Creative Media program. The goal: to strengthen Jyros’ capabilities, integrate the new Sustainable Games Alliance Standard, and deploy the tool in Poland and Croatia as pilot countries ahead of a broader European rollout.

Paris and Lyon – January, 26 2026

Since its release, JYROS has evolved into a more powerful sustainability tool, offering richer functionalities and clearer insights to help studios understand and reduce their impact. After rolling JYROS out across all French regions, reaching more than 1,000 users in 400+ companies and obtaining the CNCs’s approval to be used in a major public funding initiative, we’re ready for the next step.

Jyros: the environmental impact calculator for gaming companies

Jyros is an easy to use online platform designed by and for the video game industry. It aggregates production, infrastructure, and operational data to deliver precise environmental insights, actionable advice to reduce emissions, and compliance-ready carbon reporting in a few hours. It’s specifically tailored for small and medium-sized studios, using data available to them and allowing them to precisely measure, report and act on the impact of their games during their entire lifecycle.

JYROS was created by Game Only, a French non-profit regional Association for video games studios, together with the National Video Game Consortium for the Environment. It was released in October 2023 following a pilot phase involving 27 studios and an environmental expert company (I Care) to ensure the science-based nature of the calculation methodology as well as its user-friendliness.

"It's an essential initiative with a collective approach that gives the entire video game industry a tailor-made tool to take concrete action towards greater eco-responsibility."

Since its launch, Jyros has reached more than 1,000 users in 400+ companies. It has been approved by the CNC (National Center for Cinema and Creative industries) as a tool to be used in the process of the FAJV funding program, and thus has been instrumental in the implementation of the eco-conditionality of national funding for the Video game industry.

After the success of Jyros in France, it is time to spread wider, reach more users and drive the ecological transition of our industry across borders. Indeed, while Jyros is already available in English (and has a few international users) and compliant with European carbon reporting standards, there have been no dedicated actions to reach or tailor the tool to a wider international audience.

EURO-Jyros aims to reinforce Jyros as the European solution supporting the decarbonisation of the video game industry and to provide gaming companies across borders the tools they need to collect, report and act on comparable carbon-footprint data.

The project focuses on:

  • Enhancing Jyros’ carbon calculator, analytics, and recommendation engine through improved UX/UI, enterprise dashboards, automated suggestions, and a trajectory-planning module. This will make it even easier for studios to measure, calculate and reduce their impact.
  • Integrating the SGA Standard—a GHG Protocol-based methodology tailored for video games companies—directly into the tool. We aim to standardise carbon footprint calculations for all companies in the industry.
  • Deploying Jyros in Poland and Croatia to gather insights and prepare for Europe-wide expansion.
  • Publishing an industry insights report to raise awareness, help the industry understand where it stands and support more sustainable practices.
  • Empowering professionals with a new e-learning platform, offering short, self-paced sustainability training.
  • Integrating Jyros and environmental impact calculation into more funding and accelerator programs
  • Securing Jyros’ long-term sustainability through business model refinement and expansion into new markets.

We believe change happens through ecosystems, not in isolation.

This project brings together key players who are instrumental to EURO-Jyros’ success:

  • Games Industry Poland (Vitruvio) and the Croatian Game Developer Alliance (CGDA) are helping recruit pilot studios and will lead local adaptation and promotion of Jyros in their respective countries.
  • The Sustainable Games Alliance is supporting the integration of its carbon calculation methodology (the SGA Standard).
  • SpielFabrique will help amplify our findings and promote Jyros, environmental footprint calculation and our project across Europe through its extensive cross-border network.

The next two years will be decisive, and we’re excited to build this new chapter with the European games community.

If you know studios in Poland or Croatia who would like to join the pilot phase (or if you’re simply curious about the project) we’d love to hear from you! Your support and insights help us shape a tool that serves the industry a little better every day.
