Discover 6 eco-themed games
Through storytelling and/or engaging gameplay, some studios invite players to reflect on their impact on the planet, explore fragile ecosystems, or even devise sustainable solutions. Whether you’re a gaming enthusiast or simply curious to discover unique experiences, these eco-themed games offer a fun and inspiring way to tackle key issues. Here is a selection of six games that demonstrate it’s possible to design fun games whilst raising awareness about environmental challenges.
Tides of Tomorrow
Tides of Tomorrow is a single-player game developed by Digixart set in a flooded and polluted world, where a deadly disease called plastemia threatens to wipe out all life. You must prepare to face the many challenges of a world on the brink of collapse. Your goal? Find the cure for plastemia. To do so, you’ll often have to choose between keeping your resources for yourself or leaving them for players that will come after you in this game where resource scarcity is a constant reality.
In Tides of Tomorrow, your choices have an impact on your adventure but also on those of other players around the world, a unique gameplay that questions our role as individuals in the crisis facing our society.
Tides of Tomorrow has been available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation since April 22, 2026.
Adorable Adventures
In this game, the environmental message is woven directly into the gameplay. Deeply inspired by nature, Adorable Adventures game encourages curiosity and attention to detail and makes learning a fun experience. Creating a herbarium, for example, allows players to learn more about real life flora and fauna.
Wild Sheep Studio designed the game to be accessible to young audiences and suitable for use in schools, with the aim to be both educational and captivating.
The project extends its environmental commitments to multiple aspects of its production process notably through data and server optimisation, the use of local materials, waste reduction in the office, as well as technical choices (particularly via Unreal Engine) to limit the size of textures and downloads. A comprehensive commitment, consistent with the game’s values. The game offers an immersive and sensitive experience, where every interaction brings the player closer to their environment and strengthens their connection to the natural world.
Adorable Adventures is available since the 30th April.
Trois-Rivières
Trois Rivières is an action-adventure game available for free on your browser, which explores the environmental and social impacts of digital equipment manufacturing.
Through a journey that takes you through a mine, an assembly plant and a recycling centre, the game highlights the consequences of these industries on a village and invites you to reflect on technological acceleration.
Trois-Rivières was developed using the open-source Phaser library. Thanks to its pixel art design (using lighter images) and eco-friendly design, the game weighs only 14.2 MB, with 10.4 MB of compressed sounds and music.
In addition, it has the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Alt Impact Programme (ADEME, CNRS, INRIA).
The game was developed by Richard Hanna, Philippe Salib and David Fonteix.
CleanUp Earth
Clean-Up Earth is a relaxing cooperative game that aims to restore polluted environments and encourage positive collective action.
Armed with your modular Terra Cleaner to vacuum up trash, Magic Pockets invites up to 8 players to recycle materials and rebuild damaged structures.
Every action creates an immediate change: plants grow back, wildlife returns, and polluted environments come back to life. You can even discover ancient artifacts and traces of past civilizations.
The game features compelling storytelling and gameplay designed to raise awareness about our responsibility for waste management.
The game has been available since April 2.
Blossom : The Seed Of Life
“Terraform a dead planet and bring it back to life in this open-world survival game. Explore ruins, gather resources, print machines, drive modular vehicles, develop forests, biomes, and ecosystems, and recreate life with your own hands.”
As you can see, The Seed of Life is a game that imagines a future where Mars could become a true lifeline for humanity. Pebbledust Games, the game’s developer, wanted to create a gameplay centered on terraforming, where each mission moves the planet closer to becoming a habitable place. It’s as if you’re building the future of this new world yourself.
The game has been available since March 9 !
Darwin’s Paradox
Featuring an endearing octopus navigating a hostile industrial world, the game offers a deeper reflection on the place of living creatures in a world dominated by industry.
“Embark on an epic adventure worthy of the finest animated films with Darwin, an octopus as endearing as he is intelligent, torn from the ocean and trapped in a vast and mysterious industrial complex. Thanks to his extraordinary intelligence and incredible abilities (swimming, camouflage, and many other fascinating skills), help him overcome the most formidable traps and dangers in this captivating game that combines platforming, adventure and puzzle-solving.”
The game developed by ZDT Studio can be indirectly linked to our overexploitation of marine natural resources, which is causing a disruption in underwater biodiversity.
The game has been available since April 2.
