ROUND TABLE MEETING
With Millions Victories and Wanadev
JYROS, two years anniversary : is the environnemental transition becoming a reality for video game studios ?
To mark the two years anniversary of JYROS, Chloé Coudray and Geoffrey Marmonier welcomed Céline Allary from Millon Victories and Quentin Murard from Wanadev ( both premium users of JYROS) to share how the tool has supported their studios’ sustainability journey.
They discussed why they chose JYROS, how it helped structure and accelerate their environmental strategy, and the concrete value it delivered: reliable data, clearer decision-making, and stronger team engagement.
A big thank you to them for their participation.

JYROS TIPS
The hidden impact of our digital equipment
Each person uses around 1 ton of materials per year for digital technologies. In France, 80% of the digital footprint comes from user equipment : computers, smartphones, tablets.
The most impactful action? Keep devices longer.
Repair instead of replacing 🔧
Resell or donate for a second life🤝
Recycle properly as a last resort ♻️
For example, in a 10-person video game studio with 40 devices, extending equipment lifespan by just one year can reduce emissions by ~510 kg of CO₂eq , about 2% of the studio’s annual footprint, or 2,300 km driven in a petrol car.
Small decisions. Real impact. 🌱

ENERGY SAVER, a Godot plug-in
Energy Saver, the plug-in to lower the players energy usage
Bold Beetle Games has released a Godot tool, it’s a plugin called Energy Saver, and it lowers the players’ energy usage without compromising the player experience.
Included features are:
Setting an FPS limit
Dimming the screen when the player goes idle
Turning off the game logic and rendering after longer idle times
Separate FPS limit for menus using function calls
The plug-in is highly customisable and easy to use, you can find the download link just below.
Arstechnica, a new reasearch about AI tools
“Study finds AI tools made open source software developers 19% slower”
A recent randomized controlled trial by nonprofit research group Model Evaluation and Threat Research (METR) found a surprising result: experienced open-source software developers were 19% slower on coding tasks when using current AI tools than when working without them.
Expectations vs. Reality
Before starting, developers predicted that AI would speed up their work by about 24%. After completing the tasks, they still believed AI had made their work about 20% faster. But once actual task times were measured, AI-assisted work took roughly 19% longer than work done without AI.

Trois-Rivières, a game about environmental impact available on your browser !
Discover Trois-Rivères, an eco-designed game by Richard Hanna, Philippe Salib and David Fonteix.
This is an action-adventure game, developed using the open-source Phaser library. Thanks to its pixel art design (using lighter images) and eco-friendly design, the game weighs only 14.2 MB, with 10.4 MB of compressed sounds and music.
« Maï is a hiker who discovers the charming village of Trois-Rivières and gets to know its inhabitants, who live happily in a state of simplicity. The village is named after the three tributaries that meet in the hamlet. One of these rivers is polluted, disrupting the tranquillity of the village. Maï sets out to understand the origin of the disaster. »
In addition, it has the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Alt Impact Programme (ADEME, CNRS, INRIA).
